Biography

Randolph T. Barker counsels both publicly-traded and private corporations regarding labor and employment matters, business formation, acquisitions, contracts, food service and liquor licensing, commercial litigation matters and trade secret/non-compete matters. In addition, Mr. Barker represents municipalities in labor and employment matters and related litigation, ordinance drafting, criminal prosecutions, building, zoning, and code enforcement proceedings and property tax appeals.

Mr. Barker regularly appears before numerous courts and government agencies, including state and federal trial courts throughout Michigan, the Michigan Tax Tribunal, the Michigan Liquor Control Commission and the National Labor Relations Board. His professional associations include membership in the State Bar of Michigan and the Washtenaw County Bar Association. Actively involved in the community, Mr. Barker previously served as a director and then as Management Vice President of the Monroe Jaycees. He received several awards for community service projects, including recognition as Michigan Jaycee of the Quarter in 2002.

Mr. Barker frequently lectures to clients, business and professional groups regarding labor and employment, real estate and business matters throughout the state of Michigan. He is faculty to both the Council on Education in Management and Lorman Education Services. Mr. Barker’s recent presentations include: Council on Education in Management - “2004 FMLA Update,” October 2004, December 2004; Lorman Education Services - “Employment Law from A-Z,” December 2004; and Lorman Education Services - “Employee Discharge and Documentation,” January 2005.
